Docked Contacts
Control which contacts sync to your connected accounts and which remain private in TitleDock.
Understanding docking
Not every contact needs to sync everywhere. TitleDock gives you fine-grained control over where each contact lives.
Synced vs Docked
Contacts in TitleDock can be in one of two states:
Synced
Changes sync bi-directionally with connected accounts. Edit in TitleDock or in Google/Outlook/iCloud — updates flow both ways.
Docked
Contact exists only in TitleDock. Not synced to any external account. Private and secure.
When to dock contacts
Consider docking contacts when:
- Privacy — Personal contacts you don't want in your work account
- Temporary contacts — One-time interactions you don't need everywhere
- Research leads — Prospects you're researching before adding to your CRM
- Sensitive contacts — Lawyers, doctors, or other confidential relationships
- Account limits — When an external account has storage limits
Managing docked contacts
Docking contacts
To dock a synced contact (stop syncing):
- Open the contact in TitleDock
- Click the sync status indicator (or press
⌘D) - Select "Dock this contact"
- Choose whether to remove from connected accounts or leave a copy
New contacts created directly in TitleDock are docked by default. You can enable sync when you're ready.
Undocking contacts
To enable sync for a docked contact:
- Open the contact
- Click "Enable Sync"
- Choose which account(s) to sync with
- The contact will be created in your selected accounts
Bulk operations
Manage sync status for multiple contacts at once:
- Select multiple contacts in the contact list
- Use the bulk actions menu to "Dock selected" or "Enable sync for selected"
- Apply to an entire group or Smart Group
You can also set default sync behavior for imported contacts in Settings → Import.
